Job Name - Human Resources Manager - Maternity cover (12 months Fixed-Term Contract)

Reports to - Finance Director

Department - Human Resources

Location - Harlow - Riverview House - Hybrid role

Role OverviewA fantastic opportunity has arose for an experienced Human Resources Manager is to manage the delivery of the HR function across the business. Having great people skills to manage personnel and ensure that all Human Resources practices and initiatives are effective, efficient, and aligned to overall business objectives. The role will include supervising the HR department (two employees) dealing with employee grievances and disputes, supporting employee development, enhancing employee job satisfaction, designing onboarding procedures, implementing HR strategies that support business objectives, forecasting staffing needs, mitigating legal risk, structuring benefit packages, maintaining employee records, and overseeing overall employment needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent the HR department consistently and with professionalism, championing change initiatives getting buy-in from the Directors
  • Support Line Managers and provide high quality professional advice to the business on HR issues, including employee relations issues, to conduct meetings, manage and support disciplinary and grievance matters ensuring that New Era remains within legislation and resolve issues in a timely and supportive manner
  • Having responsibility of the overall HR department and two Direct reports; mentoring the team to ensure they are getting the right support and exposure for CIPD studies
  • To attend meetings of governing bodies to act as an adviser in relation to Human Resources matters, and to represent the service at Employment Tribunal hearings, as required
  • Take a lead role in transforming and strengthening the organisational culture, meeting with stakeholders bi-monthly
  • Strategic planning of staff recruitment, structure and risk ensuring these are within budgeting restrictions. Interview senior hires where necessary
  • Establish HR departmental accountabilities for the range of HR functions from talent acquisition to health and safety compliance
  • Ensure high levels of engagement throughout the HR team through positive relationships and collaboration within HR and across the HR team
  • Lead on special projects and communicate and direct on strategy and implementation
  • Deliver HR specific workshops to Senior Management Team as required e.g.; recruitment, disciplinary, grievance and mental health awareness
  • Conducting meetings and completing the necessary administration and correspondence associated with maternity, paternity, adoption, and shared parental leave
  • Oversee HR team to ensure all HR documentation is maintained, current and documented on BreatheHR. This includes; offer letters, written statements of employment, probation letter, training agreements, exit interviews and more
  • Provide a HR information report summary each month to the Directors
  • Maintain and communicate HR policies and procedures and where appropriate draft or update HR policies and procedures due to changes in legislation
  • Collate joiners, leavers and changes to submit to the outsourced payroll provider accurately and within the timeframes required
  • Complete the pension contribution spreadsheet for relevant employees and send to the company's pension provider
  • Liaise with the company's benefit provider regarding the company pension scheme to ensure that new starters join, leavers are removed, and any queries are addressed

  • Understands and demonstrates a commitment to confidentiality

Essential qualifications

  • Accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD)
  • A minimum 8-10 years' experience in a HR role
  • Demonstrable previous experience working in an HR role
