Indirect Tax Manager

Indirect Tax Manager - Birmingham (up to 4 days per week remote working) - FTSE Listed Company - Circa £55,000-£65,000 plus bonus and benefits package

Robert Walters are hiring for an Indirect Tax Manager for a leading FTSE listed company based in the Birmingham area (but supporting up to 4 days per week remote working).

This is a permanent role paying circa £55,000-£65,000 plus circa 15%-25% bonus and a great benefits package.

The Indirect Tax Manager will form part of a best-in-class in-house tax team, reporting into the Group Head of Indirect Tax and with 3 direct reports.

The Indirect Tax team look after a mix of Indirect Taxes (VAT / customs / sugar tax etc) both for their UK and International Operations.

This role stands out as it is largely compliance-free, with the 3 direct reporting preparing all the returns and this person just having to review - This means the Indirect Tax Manager can instead focus on tax advisory, tax business partnering, team management and tax project work.

The other stand-out feature is the possibility of progression - This person will deputise for the Head of Indirect Tax and would be earmarked to move into that role in the next few years.

Responsibilities include:

Advisory and Compliance
? Produce the detailed analysis behind the Indirect tax returns including VAT, sugar levy and plastic packaging tax across UK, Ireland and Netherlands.
? Review the Indirect tax return for technical final approval.
? Monitor and manage areas of Indirect Tax compliance risk.
? Oversee the posting and reviewing Indirect Tax journals.
? Review balance sheet reconciliations over Indirect Tax [and duty] accounts.
? Oversee the preparation and submission of the Intrastat returns across Northern Ireland, Ireland and Netherlands.
? Forecast VAT and other Indirect Taxes in GB, Ireland, Holland.
? Supports Head of Indirect on key project and advisory work.
? Supports the business on customs compliance and advice.

Processes and control
? Identify opportunities and own the delivery of process improvements to improve efficiency and control.
? Lead the provision of supporting materials for external audit of Indirect Tax returns.
? Responsible for providing additional material for any required Indirect Tax and customs audits.
? Perform user acceptance testing during system upgrades or changes.
? Support the provision of ongoing training on Indirect Tax across Finance.

Team Management
? Line management of three Indirect Tax analysts and responsible for their performance and development.
