Location: South Kensington Campus Job Summary We have an exciting opportunity for a committed and dedicated Information Governance professional to join our team within the Secretariat of the Faculty of Medicine Education Office. You will have a key focus on collaboration and providing guidance to our staff, students and colleagues in NHS and Primary Care practices to ensure that our education and support services are student centred and compliant across the range of Information Governance legislation. If this is an area that you are passionate about then we would be delighted to hear from you! As a key member of the team, you will work with colleagues both within the faculty and across the institution on compliance matters associated with Information Governance and promoting best practice in this area. Duties and responsibilities Be responsible for identifying and managing risk related to Information Governance and ensuring that risks are escalated appropriately. Apply specialist professional knowledge and expertise to advise on data protection compliance and in particular the requirements under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Support staff in completion of data protection impact assessments and advice on measures to ensure compliance and good practice is observed. Develop and update FEO data management procedures, and guidance to ensure they continue to meet current legal requirements. Ensure that there are effective communication channels between the DEO, College DPO and the Faculty Head of Data to facilitate sharing good practice and ensure new proposals are compliant with College procedures and relevant legislation. Inform and deliver briefings and training to the FEO community to improve awareness, understanding and compliance with Information Governance legislation. Apply specialist knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and work with colleagues across the Faculty (and University where appropriate) to locate and retrieve information required to respond to FOI requests which relate to information held within the FEO. Prepare responses to requests including identifying relevant exemptions as appropriate, utilising effective and informed judgement. Applying the public interest test to decisions as appropriate and liaising with the Head of School Secretariat and the ICL Freedom of Information team as required. Essential requirements Educated to degree level or equivalent Experience in the application of Information Governance legislation with an understanding of data protection and freedom of information legislation Experience of reviewing and summarising complex information from a variety of sources and presenting the information in the most effective formats Experience of working independently and proactively, with limited supervision, to resolve complex issues and complete tasks and projects Further Information This is a full-time, open-ended position that is based at the South Kensington Campus.
