About the Role:
As a Commercial Accountant, you'll play a pivotal role in driving business profitability and strategic decision-making. From continually monitoring business performance to enhancing reporting processes, you'll be at the forefront of financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
Commercial Oversight:
- Monitor business, customer, and product profitability, identifying key performance drivers.
- Analyse and control the P&L of respective channels, recommending strategies to improve margins.
- Ensure pricing and rebates are effectively managed to maximise profitability.
- Lead execution of plans/targets, implementing action plans to achieve desired outcomes.
- Challenge business partners on critical decisions, providing fact-based analytics around profitability and P&L.
- Drive behavioural change by highlighting the financial impact of decisions and generating alternative scenarios.
- React quickly to ambiguity, drawing financial conclusions to support decision-making.
- Ensure management attention is focused on identified business priorities.
Reporting Enhancement:
- Utilise advanced tools such as Power Pivot to enhance reporting capabilities.
- Develop dynamic reporting models including monthly Factbooks, weekly sales reports, and forecasting models.
- Conduct variable profit bridge analysis to provide insights into financial performance.
- Serve as an effective primary business partner to the UK Commercial Team.
- Drive fact-based decision-making and challenge assumptions where necessary.
- Continuously improve processes and financial performance to support achievement of KPI's.
- Act as the UK 'expert' on commercial finance processes, controls, reporting, and data.
Purpose of the Job:
- Act as a financial business partner to UK sales directors and key account managers.
- Analyse and interpret financial data, providing timely recommendations to facilitate fact-based decision-making.
- Redesign reporting models to enhance dynamism and usability, leveraging advanced Excel functions.
Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:
- Professionally qualified accountant, preferably CIMA.
- FMCG or food & beverage industry experience.
- Proactive self-starter with excellent analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced Excel proficiency, including Power Pivot.
- Working knowledge of SAP & BW preferred.
Organisational Context:
- Report to the UK Commercial Finance Manager.
- Provide finance business partnering to the UK Sales Team.
- Direct responsibility for Commercial Support for Key Accounts and Field Sales.
