Our client, a prominent organisation in the charitable sector in the South West, is actively seeking an interim Financial Manager to join their team for a full-time, 3 – 6 month contract. The position offers hybrid working, providing flexibility for a combination of remote and on-site work.

Under the guidance of the Director of Finance, the interim Financial Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily finance operations, ensuring the financial sustainability of the organisation and its subsidiaries through robust systems and management information. Compliance with legal and regulatory standards is a crucial component of this role. The ideal candidate should demonstrate excellence in finance software, along with proficiency in accounting concepts, VAT rules, payroll, finance systems, and legislation.

The responsibilities:

• Maintaining accounting records and overseeing receivables, payables, credit control, and cash management for secure bank deposits.
• Managing the fixed asset register and implementing policies for an efficient financial control environment.
• Handling month-end tasks, including reconciling balance sheet accounts and posting journals.
• Preparing quarterly management accounts, including necessary analysis and reports.
• Revising systems to provide quality finance data for informed decision-making.
• Ensuring compliance with financial legislation, submitting accurate statutory returns, and managing risk by recording and reporting on the risk register for relevant committees.
• Supporting senior members of staff with any additional tasks as required.

The candidate:

• Chartered Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
• Proficiency in accounting software, with expertise in financial reporting, budget management, and stakeholder relations.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Effective decision-making, time management, and an adaptable work approach.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
