Robertson Bell are partnering with a Local Authority to recruit an Interim Project Accountant for a six month contract. The role is project based and very much outside of a Business as usual role. The position will be predominantly home working with some occasional office working in their London office.
The main remit of the role is to move a Local Government owned outsourced provider to become part of the authority itself. Previously the outsourced provider did all activities including finance themselves however this role will be to include and combine finances of company in with the council. The main responsibilities of the Interim Project Accountant will be:
- Create a plan of how the two finance systems will communicate with each other. This includes writing new policies and implementing them within the Council.
- Devise a procedure in which VAT returns will be submitted now that the outsourced provider will be part of the Council (The Council have had independent VAT advise to ensure they are compliant).
- Help develop the new balance sheet for the organisation.
- Create policies and procedures for new ways of working.
- Complete various balance sheet and Intercompany reconciliations ready for the provider to become an agency of the Local Authority.
The is a large scale project for the Local Government organisation and one that others will be going through in future and therefore an excellent opportunity to add to your skillset for other future projects.
The successful candidate will:
- Be a qualified accountant.
- Have strong systems skills, including knowledge of how systems integrate.
- Experience of writing new policies and procedures.
- Have a in depth understanding of how VAT returns are completed.
- Be immediately available or on a short notice period.
