1-2 days in our Support Centre, 3-4 from home. But we’re completely flexible around this for you to work as many days in the office as works for you.
Become an Internal Communications Executive
We are looking for an Internal Communications Executive to support our colleague communications through excellent copywriting, creative campaigns, and exceptional planning skills.
Reporting to our Internal Communications and Engagement Manager, your role will be pivotal to developing and delivering our Internal Communications and engagement strategy and projects for around 4,000 colleagues!
We have an ambitious People plan at The Works and we need a special someone who can support the delivery of our plans through inspiring content and campaigns – bringing our purpose, values, and brand to life.
With some awesome projects on the horizon including employer brand, reward and recognition, wellbeing and diversity and inclusion strategies, it’s an exciting time to join the team and make a difference to our Internal Communications and engagement strategy.
You’ll be a natural storyteller, with the ability to project manage multiple campaigns at a time and get things done in this fast-paced role.
This role is all about sharing our story, celebrating our successes, and creating a community of engaged and informed colleagues…all whilst having fun along the way!

Your Mission
- Support the Internal Communications and Engagement Manager to deliver our Internal Communications and engagement strategy and calendar of campaigns and events.
- Build relationships and offer communications advice and support to stakeholders.
- Create and deliver eye-catching communications campaigns and materials to promote various projects, events and activities to colleagues, ensuring use of the right message, at the right time on the right channel.
- Manage engagement events and activities (virtual, face-to-face, meetings, workshops, focus groups, roadshows, socials, fundraising etc.) considering those colleagues hybrid working, in-store, in our Distribution Centre and Support Centre.
- Use your design and copywriting skills to bring our fun tone of voice and brand to life for our Crafty, Caring and Can-Do colleagues.
- Act as a brand guardian and expert, ensuring all our materials are in line with our brand guidelines and advise others.
- Manage and use our Communications Dashboard to evaluate effectiveness of communications and our channels making recommendations for future campaigns.
- Work effectively with external suppliers where necessary to support our communications plans.
Skills that will set you apart
- Previous Internal Communications and engagement experience, ideally across multi-sites, and a demonstrable track record of positive impact.
- Understanding of communication planning.
- Journalistic skills including interviewing, writing, copy editing, proof reading with ability to adapt tone of voice dependent on audience.
- Ability to turn complex issues into simple plain English. No jargon here, please!
- First class copywriting skills with ability to adapt tone of voice dependent on audience, with flawless grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- You’ll have cracking design skills to help create graphics, internal comms materials, video and be a brand guardian.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise with good organisational skills and time management.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, Video software and managing communications platforms.
