Job description

About The Service

We are thrilled to introduce an exciting new opportunity within children's services in Cardiff. We are launching an out-of-hours team that is actively seeking dedicated intervention workers to provide crucial support to children and families during times of need. We understand that challenges can arise at any time, and we need your help to offer comprehensive wrap-around support that can truly make a difference.

Joining this team comes with numerous benefits. In addition to positively impacting the lives of children and families, we offer generous enhancements for evening, weekend, bank holiday, and occasional sleep-in duties, on top of your salary. You will receive an additional salary enhancement of 30% after 8pm on weekdays, which increases to 50% on weekends. Sleep-ins offer an additional £40.80, providing excellent earning potential.

As part of the out-of-hours team, you will have a secure working base and the opportunity to work in both community and residential settings. This unique experience allows you to gain valuable skills in different environments while collaborating with various professionals within children's services.

We are passionate about hiring an exceptional team of workers and are dedicated to providing the necessary skills, knowledge, and training for you to thrive in this role.

We also offer flexible working hours, whether you are seeking part-time or full-time work to fit around your personal lifestyle. We understand the importance of work-life balance and aim to accommodate our workers as best as we can while meeting the needs of the service.

About the job

Our compassionate and nurturing intervention workers will provide emergency support to vulnerable children, young people, and families during both normal office hours and after hours. Our goal is to ensure comprehensive care in line with the right place model, creating a service that is reliable and responsive at all times.

The responsibilities of the team include providing direct therapeutic support and intervention to parents, helping them build on their strengths and achieve positive outcomes in accordance with their childcare personal plan (CASP, CP&LAC).

Our aim is to deliver quality services that enable parents with children identified as being in need to enhance and promote their child's health and development. This will be done in accordance with our statutory duty and in partnership with other service areas, agencies, and service users.

This job will bring new challenges, so we need staff members with a can-do attitude who are willing to go above and beyond for the young people and families in their care. Your ability to respond to crises and support families in strengthening relationships is crucial.

You will also provide support to children in residential units who are experiencing difficulties, using your skills and training to provide therapeutic support and create a safe environment for them.

You will be supported by management and will have opportunities to grow and develop.

What We Are Looking For From You

The role involves working with families in their own homes and communities, developing responsive and tailored support packages based on assessed and identified needs. You will work with family members and children to set realistic and sustainable goals for change as a member of a multi-agency team. The focus will be on building family resilience to improve long-term outcomes for children, young people, and their families along with providing residential support to children and young people in bespoke emergency placements. This opportunity is exciting and innovative and will allow you to develop your skills in evidence-based practice.

We are looking for somebody who aligns with our values and can demonstrate empathy, compassion, patience, and non-judgmental attitudes.

You will be required to complete the All-Wales Induction Framework for Health and Social Care within 6 months of appointment.

YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE A FULL VALID DRIVING LICENCE AND SOLE USE OF A VEHICLE.

In return for your skills and commitment, you will receive:

  • A generous annual leave entitlement starting at 28 days per year to a maximum of 33 days per year after 5 years, with the option to purchase additional annual leave to a maximum of 10 days.
  • Our working culture is flexible, with a flexi scheme allowing you to work to a schedule that suits you • Hybrid working – supporting you to flexibly deliver your role whether on visits, from an office or your home • Access to the Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan Pension Fund which is part of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), offering a reputable, secure and flexible pension plan for peace of mind.
  • Support and assistance in completing the All-Wales Induction Framework (Social Care Wales).
  • Opportunities to complete fully funded qualifications.
  • Training opportunities for Welsh language learners to further their skills.
  • Formal and informal supervision.
  • Access to Care First staff well-being services.

Apply now to be a part of a great team and to make a difference in the lives of children and families.
