Investment Data Insights – Analyst
Primary Purpose
This position will be within the firm’s growing Investment Data Insights. The primary role of the analyst will be to support the fundamental investment process to help generate alpha using data-driven insight. The analyst will utilize range of quantitative techniques and work with large structured and unstructured datasets to generate investment insights for our investments division. This specific role is based in our London office to build out the Investment Data insight team’s effort in the EMEA and APAC regions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support validating investment theses and insights generation and building dashboards using alternative data
- Build stock selection models to recommend potential investment opportunities and support portfolio managers with portfolio construction
- Work with investment teams to develop the research agenda, execute on the research, and communicate the results
- Engage the sell-side and review the academic literature to stay current on relevant quantitative research
- Act as a liaison between existing resources in the Integrated Equity Group and the Decision Enablement Tech team in the New York Technology Development Center to support the fundamental analysts and portfolio managers.
Qualifications
Required
- An undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline (i.e. Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics)
- 3 + years relevant experience in applying quantitative methods in investing
- Experience working with fundamental investors
- Experience working with financial datasets in the European and APAC market
- Outstanding analytical skills, both quantitative and qualitative
- Excellent skills in statistics/econometrics and proficiency in programming languages, such as R, Python or Matlab, and a demonstrated ability to apply those skills to modeling problems
- Ability to work with large data sets and harness insights
- Strong communication skills and ability to communicate complex statistical concepts to business users
- Strong people skills, team-orientation, and a professional attitude
Preferred
- M.S. in a quantitative discipline (i.e. Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics)
- CFA charter or commitment to obtain one
