Are you an experienced IT professional with a background in Technical Support, looking either to develop your management skills or to take on your first IT management role? We are looking for someone with an approachable and friendly manner, who has a wide-ranging understanding of IT systems and software, with a keen aptitude & willingness to learn new skills & technologies, to take on the responsibility of managing our IT function.
Role Purpose:
· Oversee all IT functions – ensuring the smooth operation and security of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, hardware and software packages
· To work collaboratively with colleagues across the business to develop and implement IT strategies, policies, procedures and projects that are cost effective and best fit for Jet Press Being an escalation point for supporting users - providing problem diagnosis and timely resolution of all complex IT issues, ensuring that users can work efficiently & effectively with minimal disruption
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Management - Responsible for the day to day running of the IT team (one Developer and one IT Support Technician) including the fair allocation of work; escalation point for issues; coaching, development and inducting any new starters; performance management and communication.
- User Support – Supporting the IT Support Technician to resolve serious and/or complex IT matters. Responding (in person, over the phone, via Teams, or via Remote Desktop) to support calls from internal users (currently around 50 heads) on hardware, software and systems problems.
- Server/System Operation & Maintenance - Ensure all internal servers/systems are operating correctly, are updated accordingly and are backed up daily. Carry out occasional vital maintenance and installation tasks out of hours (as well as respond to infrequent out of hours issues).
- Configuration – Oversee the installation and configuration of desktop/server environments.
- 3rd Party Supplier Management – Liaising with 3rd parties including phone service providers, web developers, etc. Ensuring that services meet business requirements and are cost effective.
- Continuous Improvement - Keep up to date with new and changing technology both internally to the company and in the wider world of IT. Seek opportunities for improvements to internal systems and recommend solutions to the Senior Leadership Team.
- Project Management – Working collaboratively with business stakeholders to make recommendations and then implementing IT projects that add real value to the business by supporting Our Group Goals (including Cost Management & Reduction, Process Simplification & Automation, and supporting Market Growth).
- Compliance – Ensure all corporate IT security policies and standard operating procedures reflect current legislative and business requirements. Providing training and encouragement to ensure that colleagues adhere to these.
- Administration & Documentation – Maintain good records, produce KPI data and other reports as needed.
Required knowledge, skills and experience:
- (Essential)In-person IT user support experience
- (Essential) Excellent understanding of Microsoft Operating Systems and Office applications incl. Office 365
- (Essential) Experience of installing, supporting and administering Windows Server operating systems
- (Essential) Hands on experience of Hyper-V technologies, WSUS, AD, LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP
- (Essential) Knowledge of ERP systems (ideally Sage)
- (Desirable) Experience of implementing and maintenance of EDI
- (Desirable) CRM systems (HubSpot), MS SQL, firewall technologies, Sharepoint, WMS
- (Desirable) 2+ years’ experience managing an IT function (ideally in a multi-site SME)

Hours of work: 8.30am–5.00pm Monday-Thursday & 8.30am–3.15pm Friday
