Hays Technology are working in partnership with a large public sector organisation in Coalville to recruit an IT Support Technician to join their Technology team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing IT & AV support to all colleagues across the IT estate, being the first point of contact when colleagues experience an IT issue. You will be expected to diagnose, fix and resolve complex technical issues across the organisation, ensuring timely and effective resolution by providing face to face support, phone, email or remote assistance. You will be required to work on site 3 days per week due to the nature of the role.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
- First point of contact for all ICT incidents, service and audio-visual equipment requests, providing a customer focused IT first/second line support service.
- Maintain user network, applications and telephony accounts; including assigning appropriate access and resources.
- Maintain system security; including security updates, access controls, anti-virus, MDM, database authorisation, file permissions, security groups to safeguard systems, customer information and data integrity.
- Maintain end-user equipment and peripheral devices.
- Fix faults and update associated software.
- Provide appropriate equipment to end-users.
- Manage IT asset lifecycle.
- Support the implementation systems and services; including configuration and testing.
- Creating documentation and hosting IT training sessions to the team and to the business.
In order to apply, you must have the following skills and experience:
- Previous experience of a hands on, IT Support role.
- Experience of delivering an excellent customer focused service.
- Practical experience in using a range of software applications and solutions including MS Office.
- Experience maintaining and repairing hardware - PC's, laptops, printers, audio visual equipment, etc.
- Practical experience configuring and updating PCs, laptops, printers and other client devices.
- Knowledge and understanding of a range of mobile phones and tablet devices.
- Basic knowledge of MS server network environment.
- Basic understanding of system security, data protection and H&S requirements.
- Experience of ITIL in a large organisation.
