As an IT technical support officer, you'll install and configure computer systems, diagnose hardware and software faults and solve technical and application problems, either over the phone or in person.
Responsibilities
- Serving as the first point of contact for IT support within the organisation
- Keep computer systems running smoothly and ensure users get the maximum benefit from them
- Install and configure computer hardware operating systems and applications
- Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks
- Assist employees through a series of actions, either face-to-face or over the phone, to help set up systems or resolve issues
- Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults
- Replace parts as required and conduct electrical safety checks on computer equipment
- Support the roll-out of new applications
- Set up new users' accounts and profiles and deal with password issues
- Establish a good working relationship with customers and other professionals, such as software developers
- Ensuring the security of server computers by installing and upgrading antivirus and firewall software
- Supporting employees whenever they encounter challenges with computers and network devices
- Maintaining and updating technical documentation regularly
- Test and evaluate new applications, hardware and software before full-scale installation

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology or computer science
- Linux and Cisco accreditation preferred.
- Migration experience would be beneficial
- Two years of experience implementing and managing computer networks
- Good problem-solving skills
- Database programming proficiency
