You will work alongside a friendly, supportive, and professional integrated team comprising of Consultants, Junior Doctors, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapist, Discharge Coordinators, Physician’s Associate, Pharmacists, Social Services and Community Services to provide a safe, effective and efficient care environment for patients, relatives and carers.
This new post will be under the supervision of a named consultant and the successful applicant will work in the Cardiology department to providing care for patients on the wards.
Applicants should be fully registered practitioners with significant experience at Foundation Year Level and in General Medicine.
Please note that Clinical Fellows are paid on a local pay scale that mirrors Doctors in Training pay scales. Basic salary offered for this role is fixed at £43,923 and will not be uplifted beyond that salary point. Where the role requires out of hours working, evening, weekend and on call enhancements will be added according to a work schedule. It is Trust practice that we offer a set salary for this role and variations will not be considered.

• To support the daily ward rounds on our 10 bedded Coronary Care Monday to Friday with the Cardiology Consultants and SpRs
• Documentation of ward rounds
• Clerk/review new admissions to CCU from ED and acute admissions areas
• Completion of discharge summaries with clear information for primary care
• Undertake tasks resulting from ward round relating to requesting of investigations and review of results
• Practical procedures on CCU appropriate to skill and training but will include cannulation, blood gas sampling and urinary catheterization.
• Ensure investigation results are reviewed and uploaded to the electronic patient record (EPR)
• Web based listing of patients for transfer to local cardiac centres for coronary angiography, cardiac surgery and Electrophysiology studies as required with updating of the referral with any relevant results.
• Additional ward based support to our adjacent main cardiology ward specifically but not exclusively on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons when there is foundation and IMT teaching
• To work as part of the junior medical team supporting CCU and C1
• Undertake elective cardioversion lists and a pre –cardioversion clinic (after appropriate training)
• Attend complex device MDTs
• Support the oncall consultant with inreach to acute medical areas once ward tasks are completed

• Work as a member of the cardiology multidisciplinary team to support evidenced based care for cardiac conditions
• To adhere to local guidelines for infection control and prevention
• Comply with local standards for mandatory and statutory training.
• Daily ward rounds are consultant led and the Clinical Fellow will receive training in all the common cardiac conditions cared for on Coronary Care.
• There will be the opportunity to see a wide range of cardiac procedures including complex device implants, bradycardia pacing, transthoracic and transoesphageal echo, dobutamine stress echo and pericardiocentesis and temporary pacing
