Job Description

About the Role

This role sits within the Editorial Team, part of the wider Creative Services Team, at ASOS' head office in London. Reporting to the Editor, the role combines experienced writing skills with the ability to edit the work of more junior staff. The team works on all customer-facing content – from a fast-paced weekly workflow of CRM, Homepage and Style Feed articles to larger projects involving brand partnerships, paid media and brand campaigns. This is a hybrid role based at our London head office, with flexibility to work from home for some of the week.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Writing, editing, subbing and uploading Style Feed articles
  • Writing and editing on Marketing projects including emails, push notifications, brand partnerships, paid media campaigns, landing pages and homepages
  • Working with the Senior Copywriter on messaging for campaigns and brand partnerships
  • Helping the senior team create an ideas-first environment, coming up with storytelling opportunities, contributing to team research and brainstorming, and mentoring more junior writers

Qualifications

Who We'd Like to Meet

We’re looking for a team player with a natural ability for storytelling, good knowledge of fashion and an enthusiasm to actively support the editorial vision. You’ll be able to nail our tone of voice, quickly pick up our CMS, and write smart copy that appeals to our 20-something audience. You'll also be comfortable with a fast pace, tight deadlines, and taking on amends and feedback. Relevant experience might include time at an agency (desirable), a magazine (print or online) or a brand/retailer with a strong editorial presence.

  • Experience in journalism or copywriting experience – the ability to pitch, write and edit timely and engaging articles for our 20-something audience, and to come up with snappy, smart short-form copy for campaigns and CRM
  • Storytelling skills – the ability to build engaging campaign messaging and story ideas from our retail trends and Marketing briefs
  • Editing and proofing skills – confident spotting spelling, punctuation and grammar mistakes; able to edit/polish others’ work; good understanding of applying tone of voice
  • Interpersonal skills – confident working with different stakeholders, pitching ideas, and presenting if required. Organised and proactive following workflow processes. Willing to help with onboarding new starters and freelancers, and mentoring more junior staff
  • An understanding of the 20-something ASOS customer and their online world
  • A knowledge of fashion and a passion for the brand
