Information Systems Services (ISS) is a dynamic, friendly and supportive division, who are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join the Faculty IT Team as a Junior Systems Administrator.
The role involves the packaging, deployment, updating and maintenance of the wide variety of software available on the university’s AppsAnywhere platform. The role-holder will provide support and troubleshooting assistance for software delivery issues and will work with key stakeholders to ensure that software is up-to-date and provides the functionality needed for teaching and lab use.
Alongside this, part of your working time will be dedicated to supporting the STOR-i doctoral training centre (http://www.stor-i.lancs.ac.uk/About-Us) which is a vibrant research community which spans the departments of Mathematics & Statistics and Management Science. You will be responsible for supporting staff and students within the research centre; providing technical solutions, advice, coaching and occasionally contributing to training for staff and student users in relevant software and technologies.
Applicants for this post should have:
- Experience of working in a team-based IT service environment
- Excellent analytical, technical and communications skills
- Ability to combine technical and problem-solving skills with a strong user-focus to ensure excellent service and support
One or more of the following would be advantageous:
- Experience of software packaging and deployment; in particular knowledge of the AppsAnywhere software delivery platform and/or packaging for Intune would be beneficial
- Experience of working in the Higher Education sector
- Experience of working with Linux clients
This is a full time, indefinite post based on campus. For current ISS staff, this post may be available as a 12-month secondment initially.
