Package:
- Salary – £22,000 – £24,000 (Depending on experience)
- Monday to Friday – Full time
- 08:30am – 5:00pm (2pm finish Friday)
- 20 days + bank holidays
- Pension
Responsibilities:
- To operate safely and to encourage a culture of Health and Safety, reporting near misses and potential hazards.
- To operate within good manufacturing practice (GMP) standards and follow all GMP and Safety policies, procedures and guidelines.
- To support and abide by the company’s quality management system (BRC).
- Work alongside the Purchasing, Warehouse & Production teams.
- Carry out assessment of raw materials, in process and finished products following instructions given, evaluating for suitability, quality and performance to ensure that resulting end products meet Customer, Quality & Legal requirements.
- Stock control of submitted samples ensuring correct storage, handling and disposal where
- necessary.
- Sampling, preparing & shipping of samples for customer assessment as required.
- Carry out non routine testing of materials to determine quality and suitability for use.
- Logging of submitted samples on QA database, use of system to retrieve relevant test
paperwork and use of ERP system.
- Viability checks on loose / suspect yeasts and logging information.
- Responsible for the completion of laboratory paperwork, ensuring full and accurate completion.
- Cleaning & maintenance of laboratory environment & equipment.
- Collating data and presenting in graphs, charts & reports.
- Reporting of issues to relevant senior staff members in a timely manner.
- Manage the resource and materials available under direct control, minimizing waste.
- Engage in Continuous Improvement projects and regularly suggest ways to improve processes and procedures.
Requirements:
- Computer literate in email, word & excel.
- Keen eye for detail.
- Proactive and able to work without supervision as part of a team or independently and
- to work on your own initiative.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Outstanding written / verbal communication and good interpersonal skills.
- Well organized, with good problem-solving abilities and able to multitask.
- Excellent numeracy skills.
- General knowledge of Health & Safety and Manual Handling
- Food Safety in Manufacturing Level 2
- A Food science & Laboratory qualification would be beneficial.
- Proven knowledge within a Laboratory & food manufacturing background is essential.
