Our client is an agile, data and digitally focused general insurance provider. They offer a multitude of products and services, primarily focusing on private insurance across four classes: car, bike, van and home, in addition to 'Premier' offerings such as breakdown cover, substitute vehicles and legal protection.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of motor personal injury cases exceeding £150,000 per claim. Working within established authority limits and criteria, you will engage in diverse communication channels to facilitate the prompt resolution of claims. This involves interacting with customers, witnesses, insurers, repairers, solicitors, engineers, third-party representatives, medical experts, forensic accountants, rehabilitation providers, case managers, overseas handling agents, investigators, medical agencies, costs draftsmen, CRU, counsel, police authorities, and other relevant third parties.
Additionally, your responsibilities will extend to providing coaching, mentoring, and training to the broader claims handling teams. Technical audits will be conducted as directed, with recorded findings emphasizing knowledge gaps or identified trends. It is crucial to identify and prevent fraudulent claims, ensuring the maintenance of Reinsurer confidence through timely and regular updates in accordance with the Reinsurance treaty.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience within the insurance industry (motor) in a claims handling role, plus experience in handling personal injury claims with knowledge and experience in handling claims in excess of £150,000, but routinely deals with claims between £500k and £1m
- Strong Indemnity and liability knowledge, an eye for detail with an understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR), Serious Injury Guide (SIG), The Rehabilitation Code and litigation procedures.
- Excellent problem-solving skills coupled with a proactive approach to work. And ability to a large degree to work under your own initiative and be able to prioritise your own work load.
- Someone who is passionate about a career in Large Loss and is keen and ready to work on their own technical development.
- DIP CII Qualified or progress towards would be desirable but not essential.
- IT skills notably with experience of Outlook, Word and Excel, MS Teams.
