About the role
We’re looking for highly motivated and organised lawyers who will be an asset to the registration operations teams they are there to support. As a Lawyer assisting the work of the Registrar and Assistant Registrar, you’ll be required to provide clear and robust legal advice to enable the NMC to fulfil its statutory role of protecting the public and maintaining public confidence in the nursing and midwifery professions.
You’ll play a key role in the NMC’s Registration and Revalidation function, will have individual responsibility and will be held accountable for your decisions by both the NMC, and the wider regulatory system.
You’ll be required to provide legal and practical advice to the wider RIT team and the incorrect entry/fraudulent entry (IE/FE) team regarding case work, case progression matters, and to provide legal advice to the teams and the directorate regarding litigation.
You’ll have specific responsibility for case investigation review, preparation and case presentation.
About You
You’ll have:
• have a current practising certificate (for either England and Wales or Scotland) as a solicitor or barrister
• have evidence of providing legal advice in a high pressured environment
• have excellent written, oral and presentations skills.
• have relevant casework experience
• a focused approach to delivering results by working to tight deadlines
• be self-motivated – we need someone with initiative who takes pride in the quality of their work and always strives to improve.
• have experience of collaborative working with other teams.
• experience of working in a politically sensitive environment and dealing with high profile sensitive issues.
