An opportunity has arisen for a Lead Civils/Mechanical Design Engineer to join the existing team on a TFL project where previous experience in the sector is essential.
The purpose of the role is to support the Design and Engineering department in the production of Telecommunication System details designs including Civils and Mechanical elements to inform the construction phase of the project lifecycle.
The role will involve interpreting detailed survey information of railway infrastructure and producing conceptual and detailed designs, inclusive of detailed drawings for the civil and mechanical aspects of the Telecommunications system, which will include, but are not limited to, fixing arrangements, fabrication drawings and information to allow for the completion of mechanical calculations and Design certification regarding Civil and Mechanical designs.
Responsibilities:
- Managing their deliverables for their design element from design stage through to As-Built phase.
- Completes internal design reviews for project documentation prior to release to ensure compliance with relevant specifications.
- Production of Conceptual and Detailed design layout plans, sections, elevations, and detailed drawings for various stages of the project lifecycle.

- Performs planning, installation, configuration, or Integration service, for customers and partners.
- Coordinates product samples for testing, gives technical advice and presentations, and solves integration issues.
- Coordinates resources in product development and production and clarifies all technical questions.
- Coordinates collaboration with 3rd-party manufacturers or system integrators after consultation with the factory.
- Analyses technical issues at all stages and facilitates problem solving with manufacturer support.
- Provides regular reporting of the technology adoption and opportunities.
- May provide testing, troubleshooting, and ongoing support.
- Ensure that the design solutions are undertaken with consideration of commercial, programme implications and risks/hazards.
- Implementing health and safety risk assessments at design stage, ensuring designs are prepared and/or modified to avoid foreseeable health and safety risks at installation stage.
- Able to work as part of a dynamic team, as well as demonstrating individual drive and ownership of allocated tasks.
