The role:
To lead in the engineering, design and delivery of Oil & Gas and/or Renewable Energy Equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Job Purpose:
• To take a senior role in delivering key product solutions in a dynamic design environment.
• Based on a diverse range of existing technology, work with colleagues to ensure current products are deployed appropriately and safely to suit client requirements
• Modify existing products to suit a tailored set of client requirements
• Innovate new bespoke solutions to solve unique challenges clients may be experiencing.
• Assist with the training and development of Design Engineers and Trainees.
• Maintain good working relationships internally with other departments and externally with the client.
• Keeping abreast of developments within the industry and help to ensure client remains seen as a leader in their field.
Main Responsibilities:
• Ensuring engineering design packages in full compliance with customers’ requirements and all relevant codes and standards.
• Participate in the approval of design packages.
• Support and mentoring of engineering team members.
• Producing conceptual designs and detailed engineering analysis using available methods
• Liaising with appropriate departments to ensure clients requirements are fully met.
• Preparing design specifications.
• Advising and instructing operations staff with respect to testing, assembly and packing of equipment
• Attending client meetings as required, identifying design engineering requirements and processes to meet client need
• Engineering scope management & ensure changes are captured in VOs.
• (Risk Management - the Lead Engineer needs to ensure that technical risks are addressed and mitigated throughout the project timescale.
Qualifications:
• Degree in Mechanical (preferred), Civil or Marine Engineering.
• Working towards Chartered membership of relevant professional engineering institute.
Skills and Experience:
• Design experience from first principles.
• Experienced of, and competent in carrying out, checking and approving engineering design packages.
• Understanding of and interpretation of FEA techniques.
•Experience in a senior or lead role.

Desirable
- Experience in a renewable or offshore oil and gas setting
- Previous experience of working for a Tier 1 contractor or developer or operator
