The Client:

Rullion are working with Drax who operates a generation portfolio of sustainable biomass, hydro-electric and pumped hydro storage assets across sites in England and Scotland. It is the UK's largest source of renewable electricity.

The Role:

The Lead Engineer (Electrical) is responsible for the development and delivery of capital projects with electrical engineering, that supports the long-term strategy for the Drax group. The role holder will play an important role in contributing as part of the Group Technical Authority that ensures engineering compliance is achieved across the business.

• Establish and maintain compliance against Health, Safety, and Environmental law, and company policies and procedures. Setting, and upholding HSE expectations to others and promotion of a positive safety culture.
• Reporting of hazards, and near misses including investigating safety accidents/incidents, issue actions to prevent reoccurrence.
• Create, and define engineering standards, policy, and procedures in relation to engineering and quality requirements
• Establish, and specify technical requirements for projects.
• Scrutinise project deliverables for quality, accuracy, and conformance to specifications.
• Analyse data, and information from diverse sources, drawing considered conclusions.
• Building relationships with suppliers, vendors, technology companies, owners engineers, OEM's, start-ups, etc.
• Identify new, and emerging technologies and the opportunities these can offer the group within C&I discipline.
• Demonstrate ownership, and accountability for risks, issues, actions, and decisions to minimise likelihood of technical, and commercial impacts.
• Work closely with procurement to agree strategy, develop specification, negotiation and tendering of contracts, to optimise value for the Drax group, whilst delivering the required quality of goods/services.
• Management of contracts post award, including upholding HSE, approving RAMS, setting to work following legal and policy obligations.
• Responsible for delivery of outsourced engineering effort e.g. Owners Engineers to best use resources.
• Author/review project appraisals for/on behalf of Capital Investment Committee to ensure projects are technically developed proportional to project stage.
• Support the development of the team, with interviews, onboarding, and setting training/development plans.

What a great candidate looks like....

• Minimum BEng Qualified Engineer
• CEng/IEng or working towards
• IOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification would be beneficial.
• Knowledge and understanding of British and International codes and standards relevant to electrical design and operation (IEC/IEE/BS-EN).
• Comprehensive understanding electrical protection schemes, High voltage switchgear/transformers/generators, electrical System design, operation, and maintenance, UK Electricity grid, including grid code compliance and Safe systems of work.
• Proficiency in power system modelling software.
• Excellent appreciation of other engineering disciplines, work, and their interaction with each other in a project setting.
• Able to execute requirements of complex projects to help inform and shape the development process.
• Ability to understand and interpret Electrical drawings and documents.
