One of the UK's leading technology companies are entering a period of growth and looking to double their 150+ UK based engineering team, with modern software engineering practices & processes very much at the heart of all they do. As a Lead Java Developer, you will be a technical leader for engineers across multiple squads and use your experience to drive delivery and introduce new innovative ways of working. In return you will have the platform to develop your career delivering on real disruptive technology including large-scale systems design, data driven high-volume services and complex back-end distributed systems.
You'll be a lead figure across multiple multi-disciplined software engineering teams and be responsible for the design, development and delivery of apps and features that offer variety project by project. By producing and leading the delivery of high quality, scalable Java code including test suites you will drive your squad to evolve new services and deliver on key projects by collaborating closely with fellow Tech/Engineering Leads, Products Owners & company stakeholders.
You'll have a deep knowledge of Java (17+) with experience of Java micro-service frameworks and building REST based APIs. Prior experience building and deploying large scale distributed services is essential and naturally you will be driven by continuous improvement / development along with new software development best practices.
Any prior experience building and deploying large scale distributed services would be a major plus as would any knowledge/experience with data or streaming technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, Apache Beam / Spark, Lambda, HiveMQ / MQTT.
