We are currently seeking to appoint a Learning and Development Officer on a Full-time, permanent basis.
Job Purpose
To design, deliver and coordinate training activities for LSST and associated companies ensuring that all employees have the right competencies to allow them to contribute to the best of their ability; allowing the organisation to meet its goals and to ensure compliance with legislative obligations
Key responsibilities of the post include:
- Conduct a comprehensive training needs analysis with line managers to identify skills/knowledge gaps and develop a training strategy for departmental teams based on line management recommendation.
- Support line managers in identifying individual training needs, setting performance expectations, identifying development opportunities, and designing individual development plans based on management recommendation.
- Oversee all training needs for the organisation including the update of a training matrix of all mandatory training for all staff.
- Ensure that learning records are adequately maintained and readily available as evidence for external audits.
- Evaluate and select external training providers when necessary.
- Be responsible for the facilitation of training delivery both externally and internally.
- Produce training metrics to measure the impact of learning initiatives on employee performance and business objectives.
- Conduct surveys and feedback sessions for staff to assess their training needs and career advancement opportunities.
- Other tasks and responsibilities depending on business needs.
Person Specification:
- Recognised L&D qualification.
- Experience in a similar role is desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and engage effectively.
- Experience in facilitating and delivering a variety of training programs, both in-person and virtual.
- Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, training methodologies and instructional design techniques.
- Creative problem-solving skills and proactive approach to identifying training needs and developing solutions.
- Knowledge of performance management processes and Learning and Development strategies.
- This role involves travel to other sites.
You are also expected to:
- Observe the clocking system of the College
- Give good notice of any absence (on the day of absence to email within one hour of start time);
- Keep up to date with developments of the job area.
- Participate in training activities both in College and at external locations in respect of Continuing Professional Development (CPD);
- Adhere to general standards of conduct embodied in College policies and procedures (e.g. health and safety, equality and diversity, etc.);
- Work flexibly and efficiently, maintain the highest professional standards and promote and implement the policies of the College;
- All members of staff are expected to manage and develop their role and responsibilities so as to focus on improving the College services to student and other clients. The individual should represent and positively market the College at any appropriate opportunity.
