Part Time, Permanent - Academic
The Centre for Academic Development is recruiting for a Learning Development Tutor who will be an expert in academic skills development and will work with both staff and students to help students reach their academic potential.
This is a permanent, part time (0.8 FTE) post.
You will be
- Helping students at all levels to improve their academic literacies through 1:1 teaching sessions, tailored to their needs.
- Teaching small and large group study skills sessions across a range of subject disciplines.
- Liaising with colleagues in faculties and departments in developing collaborative initiatives.
- Drawing from current best practice in Learning Development to help students at Brookes have an inclusive learning experience.
You should have
- An honours degree or equivalent, PGCE or other teaching qualification or relevant work experience.
- Experience of teaching in HE in the area of academic / study skills development, both 1:1 and in small and large groups.
- Excellent teaching and communication skills.
- Ability to establish good rapport with students, staff and the wider community.
- Good IT skills and the ability to use a range of software packages.
- Ability to work independently on own initiative.
- Able to deal with staff and students with confidential issues.
- Flexible and adaptable in managing a varied workload in a fast-changing environment.
- A demonstrable commitment to student achievement and to enhancing the student experience.
