We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Lecturer role within the ‘Computing’ team. This role would suit an enthusiastic and suitably experienced candidate, keen to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality education to learners across a portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Teaching is currently largely face-to-face, but we are looking to grow some online provision.
For this role, you will be expected to be involved in teaching on modules and courses with significant programming and coding content. You will then have expertise relevant to some of the following subject areas:
- Programming (for example, C#, C++, Java, Python)
- Web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, ASP.NET, PHP, GitHub)
- Mobile development (MIT App Inventor, Android Studio, or other development tool)
- Software development methodology, object oriented analysis and design, software testing

Job Purpose:
- To teach and support students by adopting a learner-centred approach, delivering a first-class student experience.
- To undertake research, professional practice and enterprise activity as outlined within the Bucks Academic Framework

Main Duties & Responsibilities of the role:
Education:
- Undertake research-informed teaching in the subject discipline managing all aspects of curriculum delivery and the associated student experience to the highest standards in accordance with the University’s requirements and the TEF.
- Undertake associated activities in connection with the courses taught including personal tutoring; student recruitment; assessment, review and evaluation.
- Achieve student satisfaction – demonstrating a commitment to ‘customer focus’ and contributing to the achievement of strong NSS results.
- Demonstrate inclusive practice in curriculum design and delivery. Work to eliminate attainment gaps.
- Contribute to Open Days, school, college and partnership links and the marketing and promotional work of the Department and/or School.
- Support students in supervising placements, learning in practice, internships and work-related activities.
- Deliver pastoral care to, and project supervision of, students.
- Plan and deliver the curriculum using appropriate media, including the use of Digital technologies.
- Provide effective feedback, support and guidance to students, which promotes improvement of performance.
- Engage in professional development activities (e.g., CPD, attendance at conferences) relating to teaching, learning and assessment.
Research and Professional Practice:
- Conduct research and scholarly activity of relevance to the lecturing role and/or area of professional practice and aligns own research with their teaching and learning
- Engage with relevant business and professional networks to promote teaching and learning and research in a professional context.
- Engage in professional development activities (e.g. CPD, attendance at conferences) relating to research, enterprise and/or the relevant profession.
- Maintain and foster the high reputation of the University in practice partner settings.
