About the role

University College London (UCL) wishes to appoint a Lecturer (Teaching) in Facilities and Built Asset Management. The post holder will be based at The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction (BSSC) at the Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment, a world-leading faculty ranked #1 in the world for Built Environment studies and #1 in the UK for its research environment. The post holder(s) will prepare and deliver appropriate teaching material, including regular tutorials and seminars, as part of the delivery of the relevant module requirements within BSSC, in the field of Facilities and Built Asset Management, consistent with the vision and mission of The School. This is a part time (0.75FTE) post, for a fixed term of 1 October 2024 - 30 September 2025 in the first instance.

About You (Key requirements)

The successful applicant will be expected to lead or co-lead our postgraduate or undergraduate programmes with a distinct and relevant research based agenda; delivering high quality interdisciplinary design teaching across designated modules; development and delivery of relevant teaching material; contribution to curriculum development; facilitating knowledge transfer and promotion of new ideas in specialist areas for the built environment; preparation of classes and teaching materials; and setting and marking of assignments.

The post holder will also be expected to invest time in scholarship, professional development, and research to underpin research-based education in areas that span sustainable construction, and other relevant fields; keep up to date with relevant research, learning and teaching developments particular to the programme including UCL initiatives; and to be a member of The School's appropriate committees. Furthermore, as part of enabling the post holder will liaise with Programme Directors and Module Coordinators to actively contribute to programme development, student experience, and module examination; and provide personal tutoring and pastoral care relating to a specific programme or module.

The appointee is required to have a higher degree in Facilities or Built Asset Management and/or sustainable construction related disciplines; excellent knowledge of facilities or Built Asset Management of the built environment, and an established track record of high-level teaching.The successful candidate will be able to work harmoniously with staff and students of all cultures and backgrounds and possess outstanding communication skills.
