Legal Cashier

Up to £30,000
My client a long established Law Firm are looking to recruit a Legal Cashier to join their team on either a full or part time basis. You will be responsible jointly with the Senior Book-keeper for the maintenance of the clients' ledgers in compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules and the upkeep of the Firm's nominal ledger.
Main Duties:
- Entering postings for clients and on the nominal ledger and keeping all transactions up to date.
- Daily reconciliations of office and client accounts and dealing with any problems arising from this
- Notifying relevant fee earners of any cheques outstanding for more than six months or other problems
- Banking and dealing with all banking requests
- Transferring monies between bank accounts as instructed
- Dealing with any queries which occur, providing assistance to all members of staff and bank employees and creditors
- To check draft completion statements and estate accounts
- Monitoring the bank balance and alerting the partners/practice manager to the financial situation
- Archiving and storage of files in conjunction with Secretaries as set out in the Office Manual
- Clearing dead files for archiving
- Maintaining own Training Record and Personnel file
- Acquainting self with contents of the Office Manual and accounts cashier procedures and complying with it's procedures
- Maintain, balance and deal with petty cash transactions
- Pay bills each month
- Deal with deposits of monies in accordance with procedure
Skills Required:
- Previous experience working as a Legal Cashier
- Work accurately with figures
- Work without supervision in a planned, methodical way
- Deal in a friendly and efficient way with all members of staff
