Legal Disrepair Administrator

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Legal Disrepair Administrator for a minimum of 3 months on behalf of a large housing organisation, where you will join the internal litigation team to deal with defendant disrepair litigation. This is a full-time (35 hour per week) hybrid position, where you will be required to attend offices in Birchwood & Rawtenstall.
Your new role

• Case management of litigation files and setting up new claims on data systems, ensuring full responses and disclosure to all new claims are provided within legislative timescales.
• Allocating disrepair claims and directly instructing internal colleagues, surveyors, solicitors, agencies and other organisations as necessary,
• Provide direct responses, contact, advice, support and guidance on disrepair association litigation to internal colleagues across the business.
• Assist and support Paralegals & other colleagues with queries via face to face, team meetings, workshops and/or training opportunities.
• Case manage and record all daily communications via email, telephone or other correspondence and appraise line management of all issues relating to complex disrepair litigation cases and ensure all case file work is recorded onto the individual case files.

What you'll need to succeed

• A good working knowledge of Housing disputes and relevant case law, including alternatives to litigation Mediation, ADR, Pt 36 assessments, defences and counter claims.
• A clear proven knowledge of all relevant statutory legislation and regulatory guidance relating to obligations placed on registered providers of Social Housing in regard to maintenance of housing stock.
• General understanding of Quantum assessments and taxation disputes applicable to disrepair and personal injury claims.
• Knowledge and understanding of the methodologies for assessing disrepair claims
• Be proficient at legal research and the ability to draft witness statements.
• Working knowledge of all aspects of Administrative Housing Law including Defective Premesis Act 1972 and Tenant Act 1985, Housing Acts 1988 & 1996, Environmental Protection Act 1990 and the HHSRS.
• The ability to commute to offices in Birchwood & Rawtenstall.
