Legal SecretaryLocation: NorthamptonFull TimeSalary: £24,000 - £28,000 DOEJob PurposeThis role is responsible for supporting fee earners by performing a variety of administrative duties, including drafting correspondence, answering phones, greeting visitors and communicating with fee earners and clients. The role requires a team player with a professional manner who has a strong work ethic and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.About you
- 2+ years of Legal Secretary experience
- Legal experience doesn't have to be within family law, as retraining into this area of law, from other areas of law, is an option.
- Be able to effectively prioritise and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- High attention to detail
- High computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office
- Ability to type 80+ words per minute with a high level of accuracy
- Adaptability and pro-active in approach to work
- Experience of BigHand desirable
Duties and Responsibilities
- Audio digital dictation and administration support for the team
- Transcribe and proofread letters, emails and correspondence
- Deal with administrative tasks as required to include scanning, printing, paginating, and photocopying
- Under supervision, support the fee earners with accounting and billing processes
- Be involved in the efficient management of client/matter files to include general filing, file opening, ID checks, preparation of client care letters and terms and conditions, file closure and archiving
- Make appointments, arrange meetings and maintain manager/fee earners diary as required
- Attend clients both in person and on the telephone, ensuring the confidentiality at all times
- Deal with post & DX for the team
- Manage meeting rooms, refreshments and other requirements for fee earners
- Complete expenses and mileage claims for fee earners
- Provide general administrative support for the team with business development events and activities
- Undertake any other duties as required
