Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to join our team. The Legal Secretary will provide administrative support to attorneys and legal professionals, ensuring the smooth operation of the law office. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and draft legal documents, such as pleadings, contracts, and correspondence
- Organize and maintain legal files and documents
- Schedule appointments, meetings, and court hearings
- Assist lawyer in managing their calendars and deadlines
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases
- Communicate with clients, court personnel, and other professionals in a professional manner
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and emails
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Perform general administrative tasks as needed
Skills:
- Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in using legal software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures
- Attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills
- Have a full working knowledge of the Scottish Legal Aid Board system
