Level 3 Sports Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship - Elsley School
The main role of an Apprentice Sports Coach is to support the PE teachers with the planning and delivery of the school’s sports provision, which includes PE lessons, lunch time games and extracurricular clubs. A suitable candidate will be energetic, flexible, reliable and self-motivated. They will have good organisational skills, a positive mind-set and a friendly attitude.
Through the apprenticeship programme, you will develop a greater understanding of the National Curriculum and primary school sport. You will develop the skills required to support the delivery of PE within a school.

Apprenticeship Summary
- 30 hours per week (8:30am till 3:30pm)
- Level 3 Sports Teaching Assistant Qualification

- 16 months to complete the course
- £6.40 per hour (The wage will increase to the NMW for your age after the 1st year).
- GCSE or equivalent Maths and English (Grade 4/C and above or Level 2) essential
- Any successful applicant must complete a DBS check prior to start date

General Responsibilities
Support the work of school staff to deliver high quality PE and school sport- To support and deliver extracurricular activities to include after-school clubs
- Support the development of PE and school sport
- Set up, take down and store activity equipment.
- Promote Health, Safety and Welfare in PE and school sport
- Support Equality and Diversity in PE and school sport
- Provide high quality sports coaching during and after school to help develop positive lifelong habits which promotes a healthy lifestyle.
- Improve links with local schools to help with competitive sport and physical activity provision
- Increase the physical activity levels within the school
- Assist with improvement of staff development within the area of Physical Education and School Sport
- Contribute to keeping pupils safe by following the school’s safeguarding policy and procedures
- To assist the school in its day to day duties
- To contribute to the overall ethos and aims of the school
