Barley Croft Primary requires a Specialist Level 3 Teaching Assistant to work in class and support group work across our early years setting initially.

You'll join our warm and friendly staff, led by our blue sky thinking, no limits leadership team.We are seeking to appoint L3 Teaching Assistants with SEN skillset who can:• Assist pupils to remain on task, and encourage their attention and listening skills, so that their learning opportunities are maximised.
• To actively participate in activities and to model expected learning behaviours.
• Assist pupils – through differentiating and modifying the learning tasks – to experience real success in the schemes of work and programmes put in place by teachers.
• Support pupils with their individual learning and development needs.
• Help support pupil independent in learning and self-care
• Support pupils in developing appropriate relationships.
• Assist in the recording of pupils’ progress by contributing to classroom records.
• Lead small groups of children in structured learning activities as planned by the teacher.
• Demonstrates excellent classroom practice with proven effective experience.
• Has a flexible approach and ability to work as part of a team
• Is willing to participate fully in all aspects of school life
• Has the ability to think on their feet and use their initiative
• Is motivated , passionate and reflective about their work
• Has a commitment to professional development and the skills to engage positively with practitioners, parents/carers and families.Skills:
Essential:
• Significant experience supporting children with a range of special educational needs including autism.
• Familiar with a range of communication support strategies including now/next timetables and destination cards.
• Ability to deal calmly with different situations as they arise.
• Be physically and emotionally resilient in order to work with children with autism who may present with challenging behaviours.
• Able to develop good relationships with pupils, parents and staff.
Desirable:
• Knowledge and experience using Makaton, PECs and colorful semantics.
• Knowledge of the Early Years curriculum.
• Experience leading a small group communication intervention.Interview date to be confirmed.
