Hampshire’s Library Service needs enthusiastic Library Team Assistants to join our busy and flexible teams. Your role will be to provide a welcoming environment for all, promote our services and facilities, plan and deliver activities for children and adults, assist with the management of stock, as well as carrying out a wide range of administrative duties.
You’ll be providing an excellent customer experience to everyone who visits our libraries and encouraging people to read a range of authors and book titles, download our apps to access eMagazines, eBooks, eAudiobooks and account options. You will take part in special promotions for adults and children, sign up for courses and events and using our IT facilities.
You will have a good general education combined with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with a good standard of IT skills. You will embrace flexible working and be able to use your own initiative when required. As part of this role you will be required to regularly lead a popular ‘Rhymetime’ songs and rhymes session for a large group of young children and their families with support and training.
This post will be primarily be based at Eastleigh and Winchester Libraries, but you may also need to cover other local branches on an ad hoc basis.
This post involves working every Saturday 9.30-5, as well as two or three half day shifts throughout the week on a two week rota.
A full induction and training programme will be provided, and ongoing personal development is encouraged.
