Empowerment are looking to recruit a Volunteer Coordinator to work within our Lived Experience Team. The Lived Experience Team is all about supporting people with multiple disadvantage (Homelessness, Mental Health, Domestic Abuse, Offending and Substance Misuse) to help improve their lives, whilst challenging local services to become more trauma informed. We provide peer support as each member of the Lived Experience Team has their own personal experiences of multiple disadvantage. We advocate and empower building confidence and resilience to everyone needing our support.
We are looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, support and develop a small team of Lived Experience Volunteers, as part of our Lived Experience Academy’ model. This model aims to ‘grow our own’ and help people start their path to paid employment. The type of volunteers we are looking to recruit as part of this team are people who have Lived Experience of multiple disadvantage, maybe have no prior work experience, and are now in a position where they want to start giving back.
The main responsibilities of the Volunteer Coordinator include:
· Develop a cohort of up to 10 volunteers.
· Ensure a mix of volunteering hours are available throughout the working week
· Ensure all volunteers have Personal Development Plans.
· Ensure that at an appropriate time, in line with the Personal Development Plan, volunteers are able to access vocational training.
· Ensure volunteers are supervised regularly and receive on-going support.
· Ensure that all volunteer rotas, database records, resources and information are managed and maintained.
To be a Volunteer Coordinator we are looking for someone who has:
· Good communication skills (written and verbal).
· Good organisational skills.
· A sound understanding of the needs and issues for people with multiple disadvantage
· A proven ability to effectively manage and lead a team of volunteers.
· An ability to form trusting relationships with people.
We would be looking for a Volunteer Coordinator who has Lived Experience of Multiple Disadvantage (Two or more of Homelessness, Alcohol and Substance Misuse, Mental Health, Offending and Domestic Abuse) or have worked in services supporting people with Multiple Disadvantage.
