Job Description
The Management Accountant is a key financial and commercial role within a large manufacturing company based in Plymouth, providing financial support across the business, as well as within the finance team. The role is to cover a period of maternity leave for 12 months on a fixed term contract. It will suit an experienced accountant (preferably AAT qualified), with strong analytical skills and who has a positive and flexible, continuous improvement mindset. On satisfactory completion of a probationary period, they offer hybrid working-from-home for one day per week and a degree of flexibility with core hours working.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce month end sales and gross margin analysis, and variance analysis for management accounts.
- Produce month end profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow.
- Produce monthly management report.
- Maintain KPI information.
- Involved in budget and forecast processes.
- Monthly review and update of standard costs – including annual cost roll up.
- Review and refine finance procedures to make improvements (including the use of SAP)
- Prepare statutory accounts for Company and pension scheme
- Lead contact for financial statements statutory.
- Prepare DB Pension scheme accounts and contact for annual audit.
- Review of monthly payroll before submission – UK & overseas payroll.
- Process of P11Ds and any other ad-hoc payments.
- Annual German VAT Return.
- Manage and develop the finance team, including Performance Development Reviews.
- SAP Super User for Finance team.
- Oversee maintenance of financial systems and data reporting.
- Other ad hoc duties or cover as required.
Essential Experience / Qualifications and Attributes Required:
- A’ level Maths or NVQ equivalent.
- Recognised Professional Accountancy Qualification (or close to achievement of).
- Microsoft Excel – intermediate/advanced.
- Team Player.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Continuous improvement mindset.
- Self-motivated and enjoys working to deadlines.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Desirable:
- Experience within the manufacturing or FMCG sector
- SAP experience, ideally Super-user
