An overview of the role:

By 2025 there will be 75 billion connected smart devices globally as a result of technology advancement, changing consumer expectations and emerging new business models. These devices will range significantly in form and function but will each fundamentally contain compute, connectivity and software. In the most simple of cases, there will be IoT sensors, providing single purpose insight of asset condition while at the other extreme we will be ideating, developing, operating and commercialising our clients most advanced intelligent and autonomous Products & systems such as Autonomous Transportation, Medical Diagnostic Equipment, Industrial Machines, Consumer Products or Clean Energy solutions. As a result, you will be exposed to the very latest technologies and trends enabling this industry shift, such as: Silicon Engineering, Advanced Communication standards, Data Analytics & Insights, Artificial Intelligence. Cloud & Edge architectures, Advance User Interface design, Decarbonised and Circular Product Design, among others.

Intelligent Products & Services (“Connected World") is a New Strategic Global Offer (NSO) within Capgemini serving the needs of clients who are pivoting their product, organisation and business model to access new value pools realised as a result of designing, developing or deploying intelligent physical Products & systems.

Capgemini Invent is focused on realising client value through the application of high value strategy, consulting, design & development services. In the case of Intelligent Products & Services, we are focused on driving client value through the expansion of the following core capabilities:

You’ll potentially work on a huge variety of projects (some larger than others), so you could gain lots of experience in a short amount of time

We are looking for candidates of all levels and experience to join this new dynamic team. We have opportunities to lead or join our capability teams providing deep expertise across the wide range of industries we address. Equally, we need strong industry acumen across the above stated sectors to ensure we understand, and are addressing, the greatest needs of our clients.

Being part of this new business, you’ll help set the direction, driving forward the business, model our values and behaviours, and coach and develop junior members of the team. Depending on the level you join us, the Key expectations from this role could include all or some of the following:

  • Define or contribute to the growth strategy for Intelligent Products & Services for your aligned Sector (Industry) or capability
  • Understand intimately the market needs and creating offerings that have clear repeatable, sustainable value to our clients
  • Work with the Sector Unit teams to develop and execute targeted business development campaigns to grow a pipeline of business aligned to your area of responsibility
  • Collaborate across all relevant business units in Capgemini to always bring the best to every client situation
  • Identify investment areas for consulting, hard or soft assets that enable us to create differentiated value and be seen as the driver of innovation to our customers business
  • Grow and lead your teams responsibly according to business demand while creating a high performing, yet trusted, supportive collaborate environment that attracts and retains the best people
  • Lead by example and deliver what you sell, create a culture of delivery excellence, and have fun while you are doing it
  • Consider Sustainability in all of your business activities, from the way we do business through to how our services help clients achieve their environmental objectives
  • Be opinionated yet respectful, be recognised internally and externally as an expert in your field, create compelling thought leadership to teach, inspire and become the team people seek out to work with

As part of your role you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the business and your own personal growth, through activities that form part of the following categories:

  • Business Development – Leading/contributing to proposals, RFPs, bids, proposition development, client pitch contribution, client hosting at events.
  • Internal Contribution – Campaign development, internal think-tanks, whitepapers, practice development (operations, recruitment, team events & activities), offering development.
  • Learning & Development – Training to support your career development and the skills demand within the company, certifications etc.

We’d love to meet someone with:

  • Proven background in one or more of our priority industries with a clear understanding of how intelligent, Connected Products bring value to each industry either today or in the future
  • Has a futurist mindset and has an active interest in emerging technology and market trends
  • Deep understanding of current industry and client challenges with the ability to clearly articulate business and technology solutions to address these
  • Has a technical background, ideally through a combination of Software, Telecoms, Mechanical or Hardware engineering, paired with sufficient commercial acumen to bridge the divide
  • Proven ability to be successful in a matrixed organisation, and to enlist support and commitment from peers in selling and delivering solutions.
  • Experience of proposition building and delivery.
  • Currently working in a major Consulting firm, and/or have an Industry background in a priority sector
  • Utilising a combination of the organisation’s broader pre-existing relationships, company relationships and your own network to lead or support business development depending on your level
  • Well networked to client stakeholders within the industry
