Insight Employment are seeking a Manufacturing Technical Managerto work for a local client of ours based just outside Milton Keynes.
The Role: -
As a Manufacturing Technical Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to day management of the manufacturing site Technical function. This includes the achievement and maintenance of the site GFSI certification (currently BRCGS Global Standard for Food Safety), as well as implementation, maintenance and audit of the existing Food Safety and Quality Management System to meet the changing needs of the site.
You will also take ownership if maintaining quality and safety through effective auditing, as well as crafting a culture of safety across the site.
Finally, you will be in charge of setting and maintaining product quality standards, in conjunction with the site technical function, factory management team and brand stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities: -
- Maintenance of BRC certification for their manufacturing site.
- Ensure the technical team is fully resourced, conversant with company policy, and has a clear idea of their areas of responsibility.
- Ensure that you and the site are up to date with current and incoming legislation covering food safety and labelling requirements.
- Ensure that Quality Management Systems are reviewed at least annually, more frequently if significant changes within the company or legislation dictate.
- Ensure that the Quality Management system is adhered to throughout company by implementing a robust internal auditing program.
- Any issues raised through auditing or review process are effectively communicated, actioned and root cause addressed.
- Maintenance of HACCP to ensure all aspects of the process raised as CCP s are being monitored and where required corrective action is being taken.
- Ensure HACCP review and verification are carried out at pre-determined intervals.
- Maintenance of product quality standards by robust auditing against customer reference points for all products.
- Assessment of hygiene and maintained performance will fall within the auditing umbrella. Regular hygiene trackers to be carried out and issues to product team for action.
- Customer visits, including those relating to product launches.
- Management of technical aspects of supplier approval.
- Regularly brief team on team/company performance, key issues, technical and quality KPIs and forthcoming activities.
- Drives Foods Safety & Quality Culture through the business.
Requirements: -
- Be a Food Science (or similar) graduate.
- Have 5 years experience in a similar role at a manufacturing site.
- Have 2 years line management experience.
- Be qualified in HACCP, Food Safety, and Internal Auditing.
- Have strong numerical reasoning skills.
- Have a keen eye for detail and take pride in maintaining rigorous quality and production standards.
- Take initiative and be able to work autonomously.
- Have strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
- Have an interest in healthy, sustainable food and connect with our mission of helping people eat real food.

Salary: -
40k-450k per annum per depending on experience.
