Crown House Publishing, an award-winning, international book publisher, is seeking a Marketing Assistant to join its small but fast-paced marketing team.
Established over 20 years ago, Crown House specialises in books for education, business and therapy. Its primary market is now books for teachers, including professional development, pedagogy, behaviour, character and life skills and special educational needs (SEN).
Job description
Crown House welcomes applicants with marketing experience, as well as those without who can demonstrate great writing skills and creative flair.
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Writing product descriptions for books and website copy
- Designing graphics for social media and newsletters
- Monitoring and posting on social media channels
- Writing press releases
- Managing all publicity outreach: building press lists, maintaining relationships with journalists, proofreading & editing author articles.
- Following up with journalists and sending post-publication review copies
- Liaising with authors on articles and podcast opportunities
- Updating spreadsheets and maintaining accurate records
- Proofreading book reviews and other copy
- Undertaking marketing research and contributing ideas to marketing campaigns
- Manning the telephone
The ideal applicant will be:
- A very good writer with excellent proofreading skills
- Confident using digital technology including Microsoft Excel, Word etc.
- A social media native
- Very organised, able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Creative and open to sharing ideas
- Highly attentive to detail
- Enthusiastic and approachable

Marketing staff regularly attend and are encouraged to take part in online training workshops and webinars. The post-holder will receive 20 days holiday allowance (plus bank holidays) and the office is closed for the Christmas break every year equalling a further 3 days holiday.

Salary: Dependent on experience but highly competitive and subject to annual review
