Our UK leading company is looking for a Marketing and Events Manager as the current one is leaving after 12 years of great service. 
Location: you will be required to work one day a week in the office in Houghton Regis, Beds and the remaining time from home.  You will be required to attend exhibitions approx 30 days of the year.

Overview of the Role
As the Events & Marketing Manager, you’ll be responsible for setting and delivering the events strategy and plan that aligns with the companies business strategy. This will include the planning, promotion and delivery of a series of webinars, events and exhibitions across the UK. In addition to on-site event delivery, this role will involve working with the wider marketing team to develop and implement marketing and communications campaigns to support the promotion of events and webinars across various channels. The post-holder will be responsible for managing the event budget, controlling supplier costs, achieving event revenue targets, and reviewing ROI.
This post has the requirement for working away, in order to support external events all over the UK. As such, up to 30 overnight stays and significant travel within the UK will be required, at planned times of the year. Some manual handling is required as part of this role.
This is a management role, providing leadership that elicits a culture of care and high performance and works collaboratively across the business
You will report  to the Head of Marketing & Communications, operating with a high degree of autonomy in terms of decision-making and managing the event activity and budget.
You will have line management responsibility for the Events & Marketing Executive. In addition, you will be expected to direct and instruct other staff members (from across multiple departments) in their duties at events.
As a member of the marketing and communications management team, you will be expected to adopt a leadership and management role for all team members.
The role has budgetary responsibility of circa £400,000.
Day to Day Duties 

Manage and lead the delivery of all external events activity, including researching, planning, implementing, promoting, evaluating, and reporting.

Manage and lead the delivery of the companies attendance at various external trade shows and exhibitions around the UK, ensuring event objectives are met and the company brand is amplified and correctly represented. This includes researching and developing a business case to attend new events, exhibition space negotiation and booking, exhibition stand design, budget management, co-ordinating staff and external suppliers, delivering event promotional campaigns, co-ordinating resources, exhibition stand set-up, briefing staff pre-event and communicating post-event reports.

Manage and lead the delivery of the company events, ensuring event objectives are met. This includes: setting event objectives that align with the business strategy, researching and developing business cases to run new events, working with other stakeholders to develop content plans, venue negotiation and management, developing and implementing the event operational plan, managing the event budget, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, co-ordinating staff, external suppliers and agencies, developing and implementing the event promotional marketing campaign, briefing staff pre-event, communicating post-event reports.

Onsite event management at complex external exhibitions and company events to deliver the event operational plan, including: setting up or dressing exhibition stands, briefing staff on the day, conducting risk assessments and ensuring H&S policies are followed at all times, being a brand ambassador for the company and communicating with customers, managing the cross-functional team to deliver the event, communicating with key stakeholders, managing external suppliers, troubleshooting and problem-solving on the day and de-rigging the exhibition stand as required.

Manage the companies webinar series, including working cross-functionally to develop the webinar content plan, developing and implementing the webinar promotional marketing campaign, managing the set-up of webinars of the webinar platform and the customer journey from registration to attendance, supporting colleagues with webinar delivery on the platform, training up staff on how to use the webinar platform, providing feedback to presenters. On occasion, you may be required to host these webinars and/or facilitate the Q&A.

Undertake research and work with technical colleagues to develop compelling content plans for events and webinars.

Undertake CPD to maintain knowledge of the latest techniques and developments within the events industry and to proactively introduce innovations (offline and online) to all the companies  events.

Manage relationships with various event agencies and suppliers and to ensure best value is obtained (stand-build agencies, venues, event management agencies, AV agencies etc)

Be responsible for the health, safety and well-being of staff, visitors and suppliers at the companies events and on exhibition stands within industry events. Comply with the requirements of the companies  Health and Safety policy while on or offsite, including manual handling activities.

Ensure all materials and assets are designed in accordance with the  brand guidelines.

Ensure that risk assessments are consistently carried out before all events and to take any necessary action to ensure that health and safety best practice is followed and always implemented.

Ensure that exhibition stands are safely built and broken down by suppliers and/or staff.

Act as a designated First Aider at events.

Ensure that competitor activity at events is regularly monitored and reported.

Support the marketing team with other non-event marketing tools, including advertising, PR, direct mail, social media, email, website, printed materials and promotional materials, as required.

Adhere to the marketing and communication team’s administrative systems and policies.

Deputise for other members of the management team, in their absence.

Undertake any other duties from time to time, within their competence, as required.

  • Developing and controlling operational budgets to deliver strategic and operational objectives within agreed financial parameters, ensuring variances are adequately explaining and highlighted within the forecasting process.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve our ways of working and supporting the change management process as agreed.
  • Leading and managing people in accordance with the companies
  • Ensuring there is a talent management and succession plan in place for the team.

Requirments:

  • Bachelors’ degree or equivalent professional qualifications (e.g. Chartered Institute of Marketing) with significant events and marketing experience and a demonstrable commitment to CPD                                                                                                                                                Significant experience:
  • within the event management industry, with a proven track record of managing events from concept to completion including venue sourcing, budget management, briefing staff, negotiating with external suppliers;
  • of planning and managing attendance at external exhibitions;
  • using webinar platforms (ideally ON24) and hosting/facilitating webinars; and
  • of writing and co-ordinating the production of printed materials, direct mail, advertising in accordance with brand guidelines along with strong copywriting skills 
  • Proven management skills and experience.
  • Budget management skills and ability to control supplier costs.
  • Flexible, with the ability to prioritise, work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Full, clean, valid driving licence and competent to drive commercial vehicles (e.g. transit-style van).
  • Excellent IT skills - Microsoft Office (Teams, Outlook, Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to inspire and engage people, maximising their enthusiasm, commitment, and ability to deliver business performance working collaboratively across all areas of the business and communicate at all levels.
  • Delivers and encourages a high-performance culture with the ability to coach and mentor people, helping them to become the best that they can be.
  • Understand that learning and development plays an important part in creating high performing teams and takes steps to ensure people develop their knowledge and skills.
