Location: South Kensington Job Summary Are you highly organised and friendly, with experience of administration in higher education? We are looking for a collaborative individual to join the small and supportive team at the Institute for Molecular Science and Engineering (IMSE) as our Masters Course Administrator. The main purpose of this role is to organise, manage and deliver our postgraduate Master’s programme and associated day-to-day processes and activities. You will act as the primary point of contact and provide the administrative support for staff, teaching assistants, and current and prospective students. This role forms part of a small, collaborative team of professional services staff who support the wider activities of the Institute, and involves working closely with the academic Course Directors. The Molecular Engineering MRes is a 12-month, cross-disciplinary Masters of Research programme, delivered by the Institute for Molecular Science and Engineering (IMSE), one of Imperial’s Global Challenge Institutes. The cohort is relatively small (approx. 20 students p.a.). You will coordinate around 25 academic staff from seven different departments across multiple faculties to organise and deliver all teaching and assessment activities. Students also undertake a 6-month research project in collaboration with an external partner (usually industrial), which usually includes a research placement or series of visits. You will use your interpersonal skills to develop strong working relationships with academic and professional services staff at all levels of seniority, combining a professional approach with a friendly and welcoming manner. Your methodical approach to responsibilities and attention to detail, with excellent organisational and time management skills, will ensure that you successfully keep track of multiple parallel workflows with different timelines. Note that this is a student- and staff-facing role that will primarily be based in-person at the South Kensington campus. Essential requirements Educated to degree level or with equivalent professional experience Proven experience in the Higher Education sector in an administration role Experience of working in a customer- or service- focused environment, preferably with students Experience of record-keeping Demonstrable knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams Good level of numeracy and ability to process data Excellent organisational and time management skills, and attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communications skills Networking and inter-personal skills to build and develop internal and external working relationships Ability to deal with confidential matters with complete discretion Further Information This is a part-time (0.8 FTE), fixed-term role for 18 months in the first instance, with possibility for extension.
