Mechanical Fitter

Why do we need you?

Are you someone who is passionate about hands on plant maintenance?

At our Isover brand, where we manufacture insulation products, we are looking for a Mechanical Fitter to work in our Runcorn site on a day shift pattern, to focus on maximisation of plant availability by safely undertaking proactive and reactive maintenance of plant equipment.

What you will be doing:

• Achieve and support a culture of environmental, health and safety (EHS) excellence through achievement of EHS objectives and targets
• Maintenance of all plant equipment and services to the highest possible standard allowing the company to safely achieve quality and performance targets, through preventative maintenance techniques and minimizing downtime
• Ensure that equipment installations are completed safely, accurately and to planned schedule
• Accurate reporting of work carried out, so that others can understand and act on this information. This includes CMMS logging, timelines, spares used, and to sign off work and hand back to production without delay
• Proactive approach to plant and organizational improvements, making suggestions to enhance equipment, departmental and site performance
• Continuous Improvement
• Lead and support the future of the Apprentices in their training to become Engineers

Is this job for you?

• Recognised time-served apprenticeship, ideally mechanical/mechatronics
• Extensive hand on practical experience with heavy plant and equipment in a manufacturing environment
• Environment, health, and safety awareness
• IT literate (including Microsoft packages)
• Ability to apply maintenance trade skills condition monitoring to proactively predict plant deterioration and ensure corrective actions are carried out in a timely manner
• Ability to install and maintain a working understanding of the process equipment, systems, utilities and to perform maintenance effectively
• Good understanding of lubrication practices
• Able to work as an individual or part of a mechanical/electrical skilled workforce on preventive/scheduled maintenance
• Good understanding of both hydraulic and pneumatic systems, with excellent fault-finding skills
• Some knowledge of CMMS or document sharing software would be beneficial
