We currently have an excellent opportunity for a part-time Medical Administrator to join our team based in Central Manchester.
The successful candidate for the role of Medical Administrator will have the following duties and responsibilities:
- You will be working in a private medical practice, providing customer service duties in the clinic both on the telephone and on reception.
- You will be joining a friendly, busy, professional team and would be expected to deal with various enquires, including booking patients to doctors’ clinics and processing payments.
- You will be offering information about the various services, pass on information to patients before and after their appointments and more.
- You will be participating in business development meetings and marketing
- After appropriate training, you will partake in checks and audits in line with regulatory requirements.
- In order to be considered for the role of Medical Administrator you will have gained the following skills and experience:
- A background in Healthcare is essential with minimum 1-year experience.
- Due to the nature of the Private Healthcare Clinic, the Medical Administrator will be empathetic, well presented and clearly spoken with a professional attitude.
- All applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.
- Must be able to pass the DBS check
- You must have experience working as an administrator.
- You must have excellent organisational skills.
- You must be computer literate and have good knowledge of Microsoft Office/Excel/Outlook etc.
- You must have excellent attention to detail.
- You must be highly reliable with excellent timekeeping skills
Job Description
- To answer telephone calls and reception desk queries promptly and professionally.
- To coordinate appointment requests for urgent, same day and future appointments.
- To facilitate the administration of patient prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines including; repeats, queries, controlled procedures and validating patient identification.
- To resolve a wide variety of patient queries received by telephone, in person and in writing. Including; prescriptions, medications, specialist referrals, test results, scans and x-rays.
- Identify urgent matters and refer to the clinical team/duty doctor/nurse as appropriate.
- To accurately update and monitor patient records including, recording appointments, and registration, change of address, and correspondence sent/received.
- To deal with patient concerns and complaints in a calm and professional manner.
- To facilitate attendance at clinics/review appointments by assisting with routine monitoring and recalls. Using telephone calls, emails, letter writing, faxes as appropriate.
- To liaise with other healthcare professionals, secretaries and administration teams with regards to coordinating patient care.
- To assist the practice team with clerical and administrative duties as may be reasonably required. Including; Reports, Registrations, Recalls, Marketing, Scanning, Auditing etc.
- To fully participate in maintaining a tidy and professional public, reception and kitchen areas, drinks distribution for reception and clinical teams, stock checking, premises security checks.
- To work as a positive and supportive team member, providing cover for similar posts as required.
- To attend meetings and training as appropriate for the role and as required.
- To identify areas for quality improvement, risk avoidance or development and take an active part in delivering the business objective
- To keep up to date with practice information including policy and procedure changes, staff rotas, alerts and service provisions.
- To ensure implementation and adherence to practice policy including; Equality and Diversity, Information Governance (including Data Protection Legislation), Confidentiality and Health and Safety.
- Other such duties that may be required.
