About Medical andScientific Affairs

The Medical and Scientific Affairs group is a critical contributor to our trusted science, superiority, external advocacy agenda and deep human understanding. The group is accountable for:

  • Working with R&D and commercial partners to develop, deliver and disseminate an integrated superior product narrative globally, in-line with the agreed superiority vectors.
  • Is the single point of contact between the NE BU and Category R&D resources on Superiority, trusted science, and External Advocacy.
  • Deliver expert technical understanding & co-ordination across R&D functions to enable superiority and external Advocacy R&D knowledge to be transferred and shared globally, across functions.
  • Is a strategic advisor for the claims and copy process enabling superiority through trusted science.

About the role

The purpose of the Medical and Scientific Affairs Senior Scientist is to play an important role in the Medical and Scientific Affairs group, supporting the creation of materials that drive support of innovation superiority, trusted science, external advocacy and deep human understanding for power brands in-line with our strategy.

This role is part of the R&D function and reports into the Medical and Scientific Affairs Lead xxxx

Role Responsibilities

This role has responsibility and oversight of the activities below with the added complexity of multiple stakeholders, different functions, and governance / business expectations:

  • Support the creation of Superior R&D product narratives for appropriate pipeline projects, integrating all elements of superiority across R&D into a coherent single narrative. This is executed through strong partnerships with commercial, R&D and beyond.
  • Working with other members of the Medical and Scientific Affairs group develop effective internal links with other Haleon functions including BU R&D, BU Category cross functional teams; Category Medical, Clinical Research, Safety and other Haleon teams
  • Create and manage Medical & Scientific Affairs plans including relevant claims and claims substantiation documents used to support the pipeline and portfolio, as appropriate. Provide supportive advice and guidance on claims and copy approval process in support of superiority.
  • Provide individual contributions on scientific insight, superiority, and External Advocacy activities, contributing to overall strategy.
  • Support the Delivery & dissemination of expert category technical knowledge through leading specific workstreams, ensuring best practice and achievement of business objectives based on trusted science and Haleon values.
  • Support External Advocacy and collaborations with the external environment (Agencies, Professional Societies, Key Opinion Leaders, Healthcare Organizations and Consumers) through specific workstreams that are aligned to our strategies and business goals. Attend conferences and congresses as needed to execute strategy.
  • Supporting the NE BU Medical and Scientific Affairs Lead in ensuring compliance of products and activities to safeguard the interests of consumers.
  • Ensuring compliance with Haleon SOPs and expectations are adhered to

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

  • BSc level degree (or equivalent) in Biomedical sciences Medical, Dental or related scientific field

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience within a complex matrix organization, preferably in a Consumer Healthcare Business
  • 1 -3y Specific category knowledge and experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of other R&D functions an advantage i.e., product development, consumer testing etc
