Working days and hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 9am - 5pm, 8am - 6pm or 8:30am - 16:30pm
Pay Rate - £14 PAYE Inclusive of holiday pay or £16 Umbrella

Job Purpose
- To provide high level, comprehensive and confidential secretarial support
- To have comprehensive understanding of the work of the service and use knowledge, initiative, and skills to your full potential to significantly contribute to the smooth running of the service.
- Typing clinical letters for consultants
- To manage your own workload to ensure clinical correspondence is produced and turned around in accordance with target timescales.
- Book medical appointments where necessary
- Keep computer records up to date, and filing using office equipment such as printers, photocopiers, and fax machines
- Proactively manage phone calls and voicemail systems, dealing with patient queries in an efficient, informative, and caring manner; including calls from healthcare professionals who require assistance or information for their patients’ care
- Deal with all aspects of patient enquiries including appointments, clinics, location of notes, patient, GP and next of kin details.
- Audio typing and Proof reading of clinic letters for Consultants, including discharge summaries and admin letters
- Deal sympathetically and confidentially, via telephone enquiries or face to face, with patients, GPs, medical staff, nursing staff and Hospital departments etc
- Liaise with team and other departments to help ensure a smooth and efficient service.
- Carry out general office procedures, including photocopying, filing, sending, and sorting post and sending emails
- Ensure department and urgent correspondence is managed to tight deadlines.
- Type non-clinical correspondence and documents accurately
- Ensure that all referrals are dealt with in a timely manner
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Experience of working as a Medical Secretary/Equivalent within the NHS/Healthcare sector
- Excellent Audio Typing/Digital Dictation skills
- Excellent typing skills with high level of accuracy
- Able to work well within a busy environment
- Good medical terminology understanding
- Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines; prioritising workload as a matter of routine
- Discretion and sensitivity when dealing with confidential information
- High degree of accuracy
- Good use of MS office application including MS Teams, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Good communication skills - able to converse clearly and effectively with patients, medical professionals, and members of the public.
