About the Role
- Typing letters and medical referrals dictated personally from tasks or handwritten by clinicians, using the appropriate proforma, template or headed letter.
- Referring via e-referrals system and other referral pathways.
- Typing all letters and medical referrals promptly, prioritising those marked as 2ww or urgent.
- Any other typing that may be required by the clinical team.
- Chasing referrals/results, making contact with the appropriate consultant’s secretary/hospital.
- Emailing any urgent request.
- Keeping an updated record of appropriate names and addresses, telephone and email addresses of organisations appropriate for practice use.
- Listing the insurances requests, completing and sending invoices, preparing the information for the GP partners to complete.
- Preparing summaries for PIP, universal credit etc applications, aliasing with the GP partners to book patient medicals etc.
- Any other secretarial duties that may be required by the doctors or management team.
About the Candidate
- Touch-typing skills.
- Administrative experience and good organisation skills.
- Proficiency in the MS Office package, as well as excellent general IT skills and experience of working with a clinical system.
- Ability to 'think on your feet'.
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly approach.
- Understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality and data security, at all times.
- Ability to multi-task and to work accurately under pressure. Ability to work as part of a team, as well as being comfortable working independently.
