Job description

Job overview
An excellent opportunity has become available for a highly motivated and passionate Mental Health Nurse to join the Shepherd House Team - an inpatient rehab Unit based in the heart of Worthing.
Applicants will specialise in supporting service users who have experienced complex psychosis, treatment resistant psychosis, or a related significant mental illness as described within the NICE guidelines for Rehabilitation. The successful candidates will contribute towards the development of evidence based and recovery focused interventions to maximise an individual's independence and enable people to lead fulfilling lives.
We are looking for a Mental Health Nurse who is passionate about change and development. It is advantageous for applicants to have experience of working with people with severe and enduring Mental Health problems, and we would also welcome those with some experience of working with older adults, as the service is for adults of all ages.
The service will operate over 7-days, with weekend cover being arranged via a rota system. This post is for 37.5 hours a week and we are open to discussing flexible working requirements to ensure we best support both the recruitment and future retention of our staff.
This post offers the Trust's £4,000 Incentive for band 5-7 Nurses & Practitioners, as well as a relocation package up to a maximum of £8,000 (subject to terms and conditions).
Main duties of the job
The Inpatient Rehabilitation Service is exciting and innovative service in West Sussex. You will work closely with 15 individuals with a diagnosis of Psychosis using a recovery focused model of care as part of a wider MDT. There will also be excellent opportunities for Mental Health Nurses to undertake training and deliver specific evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Family Intervention work, and to contribute a nursing perspective to multi-disciplinary discussion and care planning.
In line with our Trust value of 'People First', evidence shows that people who are treated in the community and in the least restrictive way have better outcomes. In this role you will work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team, to help us to provide this opportunity for the communities of West Sussex in line with national agendas of 'Getting It Right First Time' to have access to a whole system approach to recovery from mental ill health, maximising an individual's quality of life and social inclusion.
Working for our organisation
SPFT Nursing strategy has a focus on patient safety, promoting staff wellbeing, developing career pathways, continuing professional development, and improving quality. As a community nurse in the Coastal area you will have access to nursing networks and peer support. We are a training team and would be looking for you to actively support & develop our learners, trainee nursing associates & student nurses.
Our vision is to provide outstanding care and treatment; the people we employ are at the heart of making this vision a reality. If you've got the passion, the belief, the drive and the talent to help us achieve our vision then we would like to hear from you.
We encourage flexible working. We know that a positive work/ life balance brings about huge health-related benefits, which has a positive impact on the care we provide. Please speak to us about flexible working, for example, home-working, part time hours, flexible start/ finish times or anything else. If it works for you and works for the role, we'll do our best to make it happen.
To protect the health and safety of our staff/workers, patients, and those attending our sites, we encourage our workforce to get fully vaccinated against COVID.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Effective communication, a sound clinical knowledge base, and a commitment to caring for service users in the community must be demonstrated. You must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, flexible and able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
This post will provide the right candidate with the opportunity to develop their career. This is a supportive team where you will be offered mentorship and supervision from senior colleagues, and management support. The community rehabilitation service will also actively support your continuing professional development. We prioritise staff welfare, providing regular professional supervision, reflective practice, and any other support our clinicians need to ensure their wellbeing.
