This management role within the Strategic Enabling function is key in improving compliance with regulatory standards across the housing service. The role oversees all Housing Ombudsman and LGSCO activity across the Directorate, with a key focus on supporting services to make changes, learning from determinations. The post holder will be responsible for managing the Ombudsman and Compensation team, including co-ordinating all Ombudsman responses and compensation activity as a result. This role is high profile in nature and is vital in terms of meeting the requirements of the Ombudsman, following the special report published in January 2023
The post holder will also play a key role in shaping operational delivery in the compliance space, ensuring that we learn from compliance, driving forward high levels of satisfaction and giving residents a meaningful voice in the process. The post holder will be expected to keep the service up to date on the content of spotlight reports, consultations and changes in the legislative landscape with an operational understanding of how this will impact the Council.
The ideal candidate will have experience of managing complaints or Ombudsman activity and will have a strong customer service background. An expert understanding of housing is paramount across the full sector. If you are highly motivated, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to manage high profile pieces of work under pressure then this may be the position for you.
