Main responsibilities:
- Deliver instrumental lessons to individuals, small groups, and whole class instrumental ensemble tuition to a variety of groups (KS1,2 and 3) and in different settings.
- Prepare lesson plans that enable the National Curriculum for Music to be delivered efficiently and effectively.
- Support pupil progression through good record keeping of their progress and development which can be shared with their parents.
- Assist the manager in keeping and providing statistical data which provides an overview of service provision and growth.
- Provide advice to young instrumentalists, and their parents, about their development, ability, and achievements and signpost to appropriate ensembles, performing opportunities, and progression routes.
- Provide appropriate advice and support to non-specialist primary school teachers in their delivery of the National Curriculum for Music.
- Be proactive in promoting the Music Service in schools, attending assemblies, and proposing additional and follow-on programmes.
- Provide specialist advice and guidance on the purchase of instruments to schools and pupils; and, provide guidance and information to children and schools on the care and maintenance musical instruments in use.
- Provide support in the preparing young musicians for external musical examinations.
- Keep abreast with national policy, initiatives and developments pertinent to music education in and out of schools.
- Contribute to regular concerts in schools to celebrate pupils' achievements and participate proactively in any Music Service initiatives with regard to performances and events as required.
- Attend regular CPD/Inset session to maintain the appropriate level of knowledge and skills required to deliver the service.
