Job description

Our world has changed. Risk is accelerating, and that is compounded by the fact that everything is deeply interconnected, everything from geopolitical and economic and social issues to technology, climate and regulation. In these volatile times, companies want to better understand and act on their risks but lack the risk infrastructure and analytical tools.

Our ‘Risk and Data Services’ (RDS) Platform empowers companies to take control of their risks. It gives them access to state-of-the-art data infrastructure and risk models from Swiss Re and third parties.

Companies build a digital twin of their physical assets on the RDS platform. The digital twin enables them to quantify risks and estimate losses due to different perils. For example, companies can assess how their factories and distribution centres will be impacted by natural catastrophes and Climate change over the next 15, 20, or 25 years. With these insights, companies can make critical decisions: Shall we open a manufacturing plant elsewhere that will be less prone to flooding?

With the digital twin in place, companies can then run “what-if” scenarios to understand how a risk event could potentially disrupt their business. Based on these insights, they can design a risk mitigation strategy and work with colleagues from other departments to implement it.

The RDS platform has generated considerable traction among large and mid-sized companies worldwide. We are now embarking on the next phase of growth with a focus on US territory.

About the Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Natural Catastrophe Risk Modeller with founder mentality to join our team specializing in natural catastrophe and Climate Risk advisory for corporate clients. The ideal candidate has worked as an advisor and will possess strong analytical skills, expertise in various catastrophe modelling platforms, and a deep understanding of Climate Risk trends with its potential business impact.  In this role you will gradually adjust and sharpen RDS' value proposition by industry segments with a focus on physical risk quantification.

    • Deliver industry specific value propositions with a focus on investment and energy companies.

    • Hold or be willing to apply for a producer license to be able to conduct advisory activity in all states in the US and Canada.

About the Team

We are a diverse team operating in a start-up like environment. Key focus is building value proposition for our corporate customers and maximizing the value creation over time. The RDS Product team functions in a high pace environment and balances the deep understanding of the subject matter expertise with strong client focus.

About You

  • Proficiency in catastrophe modelling software platforms such as RMS, AIR, or Swiss Re's proprietary platform.

  • Strong understanding of loss mitigation strategies, Climate Risk trends, and their implications for corporate and investment risk management.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Strong client delivery mindset and a customer-centric attitude.

  • Experience in a start-up environment is a big plus.
