About The Service


Recycling & Neighbourhood Services is part of the Economic Development Directorate of Cardiff Council. It is responsible for attaining a high standard of cleanliness on public land throughout Cardiff. It provides a city wide cleansing service 7 days a week including mechanical sweeping, manual cleansing and litter bin emptying.


About the job


We are looking for various Supervisor roles to oversee the day-to-day operations and supervise the teams within the Street Cleansing operation team to ensure the attainment of high cleansing standards across Cardiff. As a supervisor, you will provide day-to-day operational supervision and control for all areas within the scope of cleansing services. You will maximise all resources ensuring excellent customer services whilst maintaining the Council’s legislative responsibilities.


What We Are Looking For From You


The successful candidate will have experience of working within a large operational team and direct public contact with excellent customer service skills. In addition, the successful candidate will have good organisation skills, being able to work under pressure and meeting deadlines. You will need to be able to multi-task, take ownership of issues and be IT literate in most Microsoft packages


Additional information


The working hours of these posts are as follows:

1: Monday to Friday 06:00 – 14:00

2: Monday to Thursday 06:15 – 02:45 and Friday 06:00 – 11:00 / 08:00 – 13:00 (x3 positions available).

3: Friday 08:00 – 14:00 and Saturday & Sunday 05:00 – 18:00 this post includes working New Year’s Day.

These posts are temporary until 31st March 2025.

Requests may only be approved by the relevant Director/ Assistant Director/ Chief Officer or senior nominated officer graded no lower than OM2 or in the case of schools based staff the Headteacher / Governing Body.

You will also be expected to work weekend overtime in accordance with adjusted service delivery schedules during / around Bank Holidays.

A full and valid driving licence is an essential requirement for this role.
